Volvo Penta 2000 Series

My 1987 35C came stock from the factory with a Volva Penta 2003 engine, a 3 cylinder, 28 horsepower diesel. I've seen Beneateaus and some other makes advertised with this same engine. I am slowly learning about this beast and more than welcome any additional sources of information that anyone can provide (please e-mail to rling@stationr.org). I haven't been able to find much about this engine out on the web, so I have scanned in the owner's manual for the engine in hopes that it may be useful. Another good source of the owners and workshop manuals is motoren.ath.cx and the Library at www.beneteau-owners.com. I'd like to have an actual shop manual for the engine; possible sources according to www.boatdiesel.com are Volvo Penta of the Americas in Chesapeake, Virginia, and Vosbury Marine, Annapolis, MD, 1-800-427-3451, e-mail to Dick Vosbury at Vosburym@aol.com. Incidently, www.boatdiesel.com is a subscriber site started by Peter Compton, author of Troubleshooting Marine Diesels, a book I have found very useful. It costs $25/year to subscribe to the site, but there is a forum on the Volvo 2000 series that made that purchase more than worthwhile.
TAB Cover The Volvo is generally a good, reliable engine--but parts are notoriously expensive. You can find some info at the Volvo Penta catalog.

Volvo 2000 Owners Manual
Note: Instead of inserting illustrations into the text, Volvo put all the illustrations into separate pages, which I've also scanned here. I suppose I could retype the instructions and stick the pictures in where they belong (which is what Volvo should have done) but for now, we'll just have to deal with it.
